Changes
A message from Mrs.Porter
At last the snowdrops are out in my garden. I can also see lots
of daffodil and tulip bulbs beginning to break through the soil.
One fence is covered in the lovely yellow blossom of winter
jasmine. I had thought I had lost this when it was buried under a
heavy blanket of snow. How soon the garden changes when spring
starts to work.
The birds are still coming to the bird feeders. I have three in
different parts of my garden. I put peanuts in two of them and
mixed bird seed in the third. This soon falls out on to the soil
but the birds find it there without a problem. Im more
nervous than they are of the danger of my next door
neighbours cat. She is only a year old and very active. She
climbs up inside the leylandi hedges and walks along the top of
the fence. Ive even seen her on the roof!
The ducks have deserted the gardens and we havent seen them
all winter. The numbers on the brook are still down and I am
waiting to see if they improve this year.
I hope to spend more time in my garden when I retire and one
project is to put in a fountain. I love the sound of splashing
water and at last may have the time to sit and listen to it. When
I do I shall think of you all working hard at school and probably
want to be back there with you!!
