Accelerated Learning is an
umbrella term for a series of practical approaches to learning.
The theories used within the programme are drawn from a range of
disciplines including the study of aspects of brain function and
theories of human attention and motivation.
Accelerated Learning carries with it the expectation that, when children
are properly motivated, and taught in a style that suits their
particular style of learning, they can reach a level of achievement
which may currently appear beyond them. It provides life-long learning
skills based on an understanding of how we learn rather than what we
ought to learn.
The BASICS model from the Accelerated
Learning Programme certainly reflects the ethos of the school and this
provided a good starting point for using the programme at Anlaby Acre
